Somerset Pet Sitting and Dog Walking is not just about Pet Sitting and Dog
Walking (although this is a big part of what I do!)... I am also a pet boarding service for dogs, small animals, reptiles, amphibians and cage birds and will clean your home whilst you are at work or away on holiday whilst caring for your pets. In addition to this I also provide a service to Smallholders... taking care of their animals (pigs, ducks, sheep, chicken, geese, goats) whilst away or helping with foot trimming, dagging, worming, sheep- vaccinations with the owners present or away. I even have heated brooders indoors in case you need to go away and leave chicks or ducklings under heat. I am a happy, friendly and professional. Experience
I have over 30 years experience in caring for animals from Fire Bellied Toads to Parrots to Exotic Insects to Pigs and Sheep and have been a dog walker, foster home and general kennel maid for the RSPCA and Happy Landings Board and Rescue Centre, a volunteer zoo keeper at Bristol Zoo and have run my own Dog Training School in Bristol as well as taking private contract Canine Behavioural Clients in the past having qualified in Canine Behaviour, Animal Behaviour and even Zoo Animal Management. I currently own sheep, chickens, ducks, a dog, cats and pigs and have working and personal knowledge and experience of caring for other animals also including goats, lizards, amphibians, ponds, tropical and coldwater fish, exotic insects such as Praying Mantis as well as meerkats, mice, geese, bats, aviary birds, indoor parrots and parakeets, hamsters, gerbils, degus, rabbits, guinea pigs, quails and more.
Having also worked in Pet Retail for over 13 years I am also well versed in the use and suitability of many products on the market assisting in improving canine behaviour and ease of walking amongst other issues such as separation anxiety i.e Gentle Leader, Kong, Halti, Mikki Training Discs etc as well as feed and animal husbandry advice.
I have vast experience of dealing with difficult dogs from car chasers to livestock worriers, exhuberance, aggression towards other dogs and animals, herders, large strong dogs and small high energy dogs. I am also happy to walk dogs who show signs of aggression towards people as long as they are muzzled by the owner (for safety and Insurance purposes). As a fast walker, I cover a lot of ground in a half hour walk (which often is longer than a half hour at no extra cost to you) giving your dog maximum exercise opportunity in that time. For older/infirm dogs I walk at a pace safe and comfortable for them and let them take the lead in getting their needs met.
